MoHole To Mantle (M2M) モホール計画は，通常の海洋底を掘削してモホ面を貫通し，人類史上初めてその場にあるマントル物質の回収を目指している。３カ所のモホール候補地の一つ，ハワイ沖ノースアーチでは上部地殻を貫通し，モホールの設計に不可欠な基盤岩情報を得るためのパイロットホールを日本の「ちきゅう」によって掘削する計画が実現へ向けて動きはじめた。
　The MoHole To Mantle (M2M) project aims to recover in-situ mantle materials for the first time in human history by drilling through the Moho from the normal ocean floor. One of the three potential mohole sites is the North Arch off the coast of Hawaii, where a project of drilling a pilot hole using Japan's Chikyu has begun moving toward realization.
